Dan Schwartz plays guitar. Born to orthodox jewish hippy parents who loved to sing, it didn’t take long for Dan to pick up the instrument. From the very beginning, songwriting was a main focus and continued to be through all of his bands. There were so many bands, it would be impossible to list them all. Every band was so different from the last. From punk to prog to country to folk, and just about everything else, Dan was able to pick up pieces from everywhere and develop an understated guitar style that was steeped in the years playing so many different roles for so many projects. In the more recent years, Dan stepped back from being the lead singer and looked for voices he could write for. Unlikely Cowboy was mostly a solo project with a strong alt country vibe which Dan wrote every song for vocalist, Alison Wadsworth who guested on the Good Old War song “Stay By My Side.” As a backing vocalist and lead guitar player, Dan found his most comfortable place in the band. When Keith Goodwin Asked Dan to work with him for what would become Good Old War, it was very natural move since he had been honing the exact skills Keith was looking for. What was even better is that Keith and Dan could play off of each other in the songwriting realm. Every day, Dan enjoys a cup of coffee and a vocal warm up.
